An Atlanta Christmas

It’s that time again! Time to make your plans to see this year’s rendition of An Atlanta Christmas. As you may know, we change up the scripts every year to keep the show fresh, but this year we went all out and came up with four brand new, never-before-heard scripts from our talented writers.

And, as if that weren’t enough, we will also be presenting the first ever live performance of Mercury: A Broadcast of Hope, our daily audio drama! We’ll be performing the episodes that will have gone live that very day on both days of the shows!

Tickets are here, but get them early! The venue is small and tickets are just $5 until November 27 and then we start our yearly celebration of the 12 Days of An Atlanta Christmas, with the price going up by $1 every day until the day of the show! Advance tickets on the show dates will be $17, but tickets at the door will be $20.

David Benedict Interviewed by Voyage ATL

ARTC Executive Producer David Benedict was interviewed on Voyage ATL!

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Benedict.

David, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Atlanta Radio Theatre Company (ARTC) was founded in 1984 by radio personality William L. Brown and actor/director Patrick Stansbury. They incorporated ARTC as a non-profit educational corporation, dedicated to the production and distribution of quality audio drama.

To procure funding, Mr. Stansbury persuaded the Citizens and Southern National Bank (as it was then known, later part of NationsBank, now Bank of America) to sponsor a weekly, one hour program on WGST-AM — and Mr. Brown turned his spare bedroom into a recording studio. Atlanta playwright Thomas E. Fuller (now better known as one of the authors of Wishbone books for young readers) was enlisted as principal writer, and numerous actors from the local theatrical community joined this exciting new venture.

ParaNOIRmal Encounters: Winter Solstice – Written by Paige Steadman, Directed by Robert Drake
Every year, trees are brought in for the end-of-year holidays, and with those trees come tree spirits who need protection from the cold of winter. But modern decorating practices have led to many people using artificial trees, leaving the tree spirits stranded outside where they risk freezing to death. But dealing with that risk draws attention to the fact that the weather has actually been unnaturally warm. What follows is an investigation by a special team called the Hats, made up of housecats, werewolves, and other strange creatures. Will they find what’s causing the unseasonable weather? Can they overcome the power of vampires, mages, and other supernatural evils? And what do ducks have to do with it?
